New demo available for ANDROID and LINUX

Hello everyone,

We just released the Android and Linux versions of the demo.

Depending on your android phone model, the game could work well if it is a recent device, but some loading times can be longer on older devices, or the game could even crash if it doesn't have enough memory. So please, if you see the game is taking some time to display something, be patient.

As for the Linux version, we managed to build it but we couldn't test it at all since we don't have a linux computers. So if you have any information that it is working or not a all, please tell us.

Well, besides so many asking about MAC, while this is supposed to be LINUX and ANDROID, I only read one Bug Report and one person who got it running successfully (there is an old MAC Demo, where it would make more sense to beg, kids ;-P ).

Since Linux is hardly "one configuration fits all" Operating System, it would be really helpful, if you could also post your Distros and what kind of Kernel, Drivers (overall cofiguration) etc. you've been using. (I think the inxi - command gives a lotta information there, which you might want to anonymize before posting all of it or choose to only put out parts of it with an option or a pipe [not sure right now which one it was now since I'm stuck at my damn old MacBook for now without Linux on it])

I wanted to try it out once I'm able to get back to my big Desktop-Notebook, but just saw, that the File is gone. *sad sigh*

Linux trouble-shooting does need a bit more time, since it's probably NOT the Game, that is the problem, but much more likely one's own configuration, that can miss a dependency here or there.

For non-Linux-users these terms are probably "smoke in the wind", but that's why it also needs more thorough information sharing because there are so many possible error origins before it comes to the Gamecode, that "works" or "doesn't work" doesn't say a thing about the Game Code per se.

Sorry if I sound a little bit salty between the lines, but I've had a shitty day and the (particularly off-topic part of the) feedback here seems much too vague for error-investigation for the developers, i.m.h.o.

Please feel free to correct me, but the facts stand, that Linux is a wide range of Kernels, Distributions/Distros and drivers (OpenSource and proprietary ones - which often also have a great amount of error-causing potential, I've found).

Once I'm finally recovered enough after my friggin' surgeries at the end of last year, I'll be happy to test it on my AMD A10/R7 Manjaro-Cinnamon (Desktop/UI) System, if our beloved Grizzly Gamer Devs could be so awesome and supply the file again - or canadguy could supply it for everyone else interested in it in the cloud somewhere (if that's alright with the Devs?), since he could obviously get it to run without problems.

Cheerio and my little rant has come to an end ;-P
Don't take me too seriously though, but just cared too much and was looking forward to try it on my Linux System later, but now disappointed (OMG, I'm human and imperfect just as everyone else) that I might not even have the chance/opportunity anymore...

Yes, we will try to rebuild it tomorrow. If it doesn't work, we should wait for the beginning of the next month to get mac.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one but since the update I've not been able to load my game anymore. I'm able to do everything until the second time the '18 yrs or younger please go away' screen after I choose my save file.

I got the download before it was taken down, and I was able to play till the end. On Linux that is.

Hi, Linux user here (and a programmer), umm, it does not really start, the screen just flashes black, and then it stops. Look at the (probably not) helpful terminal output:

[jsmetana@beta RobinMorningwoodAdventure_Demo_2.0.4]$ time ./RobinMorningwoodAdventure_Demo_2.0.4.x86_64
Set current directory to /home/jsmetana/.local/share/RobinMorningwoodAdventure_Demo_2.0.4
Found path: /home/jsmetana/.local/share/RobinMorningwoodAdventure_Demo_2.0.4/RobinMorningwoodAdventure_Demo_2.0.4.x86_64
{EDIT: time output below}
real 0m0,892s
user 0m0,169s
sys 0m0,068s

Note: command 'time' just prints for how long the exec has run.

I can do more tests for you and provide you with more info, when I'll have time and remember this, just tell me what you need to know (if you're actually interested in fixing the Linux version).

Hello jsmetana. Thank you very much for warning us. We will probably ask you some more info later if you are OK.
